During Christmas time, many people across the world fall into a generous spirit and forgive many transgressions from their neighbors. Now, local DA’s Offices are not known for their forgiving nature, but one program at the Dallas County DA’s Office that has gained a lot of attention is their Pre-trial Intervention and Pre-trial Diversion programs – which are offered to various first-time defendants in both some select misdemeanor and select felony cases. PTI and PTD programs allow a first-time defendant in the criminal courts system in Dallas County on certain charges to get their cases dismissed AND immediately expunged (meaning they can be erased from your record entirely).
These programs are only eligible for select offenses – they are off limits on DWI’s, sexually based charges and any kind of violent crime. But, for those charged with property crimes or low level drug offenses for the first time, it gives them a chance to keep their records entirely clean.
